FRSFreeStateNow: “Taxes Prompt More Americans to Renounce Citizenship”: How about Tax Reform Instead

Progressive Consumption Tax

The Humble Libertarian: Taxes Prompt More Americans to Renounce Citizenship.

If there is a better time of year to be talking about Taxes and Tax Reform. I would like to know what that is, we have a Tax Code. That accountants and Tax Attorney’s don’t understand. That people in the Treasury Department don’t understand. That Members of Congress don’t understand, even Members of the. House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee don’t understand. The two Congressional Committees that are responsible for writing our Tax Laws. Unless your a Progressive, know one in this country enjoys paying taxes. Because it means taking money away from yourself, to give to a Federal Government. That a majority of the country doesn’t trust or even like.

Having said all of that, if you read my Friday blog, you know I’m not a Libertarian. I understand the need for taxes in this country, so government has the revenue. To do the things that only it can do and do better for the people. Then they can do for themselves, as limited as that is. But we certainly don’t need current Tax Code that we have and can do a hell of a lot better then we have now. We can have a Tax Code, thats well, understandable. I know crazy notion right, thats Customer Friendly, economically beneficial and pro Economic Growth. Thats based on what people take out of society, not what they produce for society. That would force people to be intelligent with their money. And what they take out of society.

What I believe we should do and one reason why I like and respect. Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson. And who I would vote for, if it didn’t mean that Mitt Romney would be elected President. Is what Governor Johnson calls a Fair Tax, or Consumption Tax or Sales Tax. I would put in a Progressive Consumption Tax to replace the Income Tax. That again would tax people based on what they take out of society. Not on what they make, that would tax Life Essentials, food, housing clothing etc. At low rates but tax Luxury Items, boats, Luxury Cars, Sporting Events etc. At higher rates. So people don’t get hit hard by this tax, especially Low Income people. Who would still get their Earned Income Tax Credit at the end of the year.

We have a Tax Code that most people don’t understand. That has way too many Tax Loopholes, which most of them. Need to be eliminated and then so we can cut taxes on everyone. Thats not pro Economic Growth, thats not Customer Friendly. And we can do a lot better then this.
